can you stain wood floor without sanding
You can never be too careful about what you will be applying to your floor. so, while there may not be a way to refinish hardwood floors without sanding at least a little bit, this process should create a much simpler project for you to improve the look of your home.. If your hardwood floor is only lightly worn, damaged, or scratched, you may be able to refinish it without sanding. there are two basic methods: buffing or abrading the existing coat before refinishing, or, alternatively, applying a chemical “etching” kit.. After a little more research, i discovered that gel-stain can be used to stain floors and it can be done with minimal sanding!!! maybe i’m behind the 8-ball in just learning this, but i’m completely stoked! yes, i did waste much precious time completely sanding my bathroom floor down, but, my next big flooring project is my kitchen.. can you stain wood floor without sanding
If you have a polyurethane wood floor where parts of the finish are starting to wear off, you can re-stain these areas without sanding the surface. however, if you plan to re-stain the entire floor, then sanding the surface to remove the old finish is recommended.. Much of what you can accomplish will depend on the natural color of your hardwood and the condition of the wood. old, thin hardwood can't stand up to sanding. you will do better by having it replaced. if you have engineered flooring, such as a floating floor not attached to the substrate, you can't sand it..
